C.C.C. ADULT HARVESTS 2024: NO TO SPRAYING OF THE NAIRA

As the 2024 Adult Harvest season of the Celestial Church of Christ approaches, it is important to remind C.C.C. faithfuls and all those who may grace our Adult Harvest Thanksgiving Celebrations, this year, that spraying of the Nigeria currency, the Naira, has been outlawed.

The Central Bank of Nigeria Law and Policy on the Naira makes the foregoing very clear.

C.C.C. parishes must therefore exercise caution on the side of the Law as they celebrate their Adult Harvest Thanksgiving this year.

Section 106 of the C.C.C. Constitution also frowns at currency spraying in the Celestial Church of Christ.

“During Church Services, utmost solemnity and attention shall be observed. All mannerisms that may militate against this, such as gossip, side talk or pasting of currency notes on members of the choir in appreciation of their music shall be totally avoided.” (Section 106, C.C.C. Constitution).

Only recently, a culprit bagged a six month jail term after being arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), while another was granted bail in the sum of N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira).

Legally,
⚖️IGNORANTIA LEGIS NON EXCUSAT that is ignorance of the LAW is not an excuse! Henceforth, these are the NINE (9) practices that could land you in trouble as enshrined in Section 20 and 21(5) of CBN Act. These include:👇🏾

1.Spraying; the Banknotes at events / owambe parties/ ceremonies

2.Writing; on the Banknotes (Naira)

3.Stampling; by pining the Banknotes (Naira)

4.Tearing; the Banknotes into pieces

5. Dancing / Stamping / Defacing; the Banknotes (NAIRA)

6. Selling; the NEW Banknotes at the events

7. Mutilation; cutting / damaging the Banknotes (Nara)

8. Rejecting; the Banknotes (Naira) as legal tender when transacting commercial activities

9. Money Bouquet; by arranging Banknotes as attractive bunch of flowers to be presented as gift in social gathering/ party/ ceremony

Statutorily,
the Clean Notes Policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria was implemented with the aim of enhancing the visual appeal and durability of the banknotes in circulation, as stated on the official website of the apex bank.

Judicially and reportedly, In February 2024; Actress Oluwadara Omoseyi was sentenced to Six (6) Months imprisonment BEFORE the Social Media Influencer “Bobrisky” Mr. Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye was ALSO sentenced to Six (6) Months imprisonment as a result of NAIRA ABUSE by Honourable Judge Abimbola Awogboro at the Federal High Court on the 13th Day of April 2024
