The rumour first began like a very bad joke a couple of years ago, when idlers went to town with the falsehood that VSE Olatosho Oshoffa was not a biological son of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, Prophet, Pastor, Founder Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa. Those behind the distasteful rumour pushed and circulated the false narrative that Venerable Superior Evangelist Matthew Olatosho Oshoffa, who is presently the Shepherd in Charge of the International Headquarters Cathedral, Ketu, Lagos, is the biological son of the incumbent Pastor and Spiritual Head of C.C.C. W/w, His Eminence, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa.
It was not surprising that, like a castle built on quick sand, this nauseating rumour soon collapsed like a pack of cards. Not one to be bothered by such frivolities, neither His Eminence, Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa nor Venerable Superior Evangelist Olatosho Oshoffa, bothered to dispel the rumour at that time. They knew it was nothing but a pack of lies and the handiwork of mischief makers and self seeking rumour mongers. There was no iota of truth in it and it would naturally fizzle out like a wisp of smoke. And that was exactly what happened!
However and quite unfortunately, the dead rumour began to resurrect and wriggle out of its dirty grave like a disgusting worm just a few days back. This resurrection was amplified by the voice of a notable Elder of the Celestial Church of Christ, who began to make insinuations and conduct enquiries aimed at confirming that VSE Tosho Oshoffa, is not the biological son of S.B.J Oshoffa but that of E.M.F. Oshoffa.
The saddening and painful reality, which has necessitated this reaction by His Eminence, is that the notable Elder in question is someone who should know better; having enjoyed a long-standing and beneficial relationship with the Oshoffa Family, since the days of the departed founder of the church, Prophet, Pastor, Founder S.B.J. Oshoffa.
While speaking with C.C.C. Media, His Eminence, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, made this categorically clear, “Venerable Superior Evangelist Matthew Olatosho Oshoffa is my younger brother, as we were born of the same father but different mothers. Tosho is not my biological son. How could that have been possible? I left the shores of Africa to pursue further studies in France on the 1st day of November, 1968. I was away for five whole years and did not step foot on African soil till September, 1973. Tosho, my younger brother, was born on 19th January, 1970. I was in France when he was conceived and born. Tosho was raised in the Republic of Benin by his mother, Iya Amidu, for the first six years of his life. It was in 1976 that he was brought to Nigeria to join our late father, S.B.J. Oshoffa, who had at that time settled in Nigeria. So, where is this devilish rumour coming from? I leave those behind this to God’s judgment.” His Eminence stated.
In his own reaction, Venerable Superior Evangelist Matthew Olatosho Oshoffa, had this to say, “I also heard the rumour when it was first floated by mischief makers a few years back. I chose to ignore it at that time because it simply wouldn’t have made any sense to dignify such falsehood with my attention. I’m a very busy person and I honestly don’t have time to waste on unproductive pastimes. I would have waved it away again when it reared its head some days ago but I couldn’t, especially when I was made to understand the quarters it was coming from. The said Elder is someone we all respect. I understand that he reached the conclusion that I am the biological son of Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa because His Eminence is always happy whenever I’m around him. The said Elder therefore concluded that the kind of love that His Eminence has for me cannot be brotherly love but the kind of love that can only exist between a father and his son. Just like His Eminence, I pray that God forgives all those behind this wicked rumour. I leave them to God’s judgment.” Venerable Superior Evangelist Matthew Olatosho Oshoffa concluded.
