DO NOT DESPISE YOUR HUMBLE BEGINNINGS: The Story of Celestial Church of Christ, International Headquarters, Ketu, Lagos.
On Saturday, 18th November, 2023, history would be made in the Celestial Church of Christ, as the newly constructed imposing and magnificent edifice housing the International Headquarters Church of the world’s largest white garment mission, would be commisioned by the Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, His Eminence, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, as part of activities marking the 43rd Annual Adult Harvest celebration of C.C.C. International Headquarters Church, Ketu, Lagos.
Not many people know that the gigantic and imposing blue roofed cathedral that gulped hundreds of millions of Naira to construct, started in a small room in the Ketu residence of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, Prophet, Pastor, Founder Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa, forty- three years ago. The story is often told of how workers who lived in the late founder’s abode were joined by visitors who regularly came from Ajase, Port-Novo, one Sunday and they began to worship in the small room.
This humble beginning which was encouraged by the late Prophet, Pastor, Founder Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa soon blossomed as it began to attract worshippers from far and near. Before long, it became clear that the small room could no longer contain the crowd of worshippers. This situation compelled Pa S.B.J. Oshoffa to acquire a piece of land at Adeyiga Street, Ketu, Lagos, where the first edifice housing the Celestial Church of Christ, International Headquarters Church, Ketu, Lagos, was built.
The growth of the church at Adeyiga Street, Ketu, Lagos, was indeed quite phenomenal. Not too long after it was built, the old Ketu International Church became popular as a healing house for the sick and physically challenged, even though it was only intended for regular worship. Word spread and worshipers and healing seekers grew in their numbers and once again, there was a need for expansion.
The piece of land on which the magnificient International Headquarters Cathedral, Ketu, stands today was also acquired by Late Prophet, Pastor, Founder Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa, in his lifetime. However, plans to move to this present site was not without its own challenges as Mechanics and other artisans had taken over the land. These challenges were eventually overcome and construction work began in earnest.
The new International Headquarters Cathedral was only made possible as a result of the efforts of men and women of goodwill who sacrificed their time, energy and resources to make it possible. Amongst such peope were Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi, VSE Abraham Aladeseye, SVMSE Ladi Adebutu, Late AVSE Pekun Sobodu, amongst so many others.
The new edifice boasts of so many facilities including a well-equipped, fully airconditioned church auditorium, a large Sunday School and an Office Complex which also parades a conference room, amongst so many other ultra-modern facilities.
Hearty congratulations to His Eminence, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, Venerable Superior Evangelist Olatosho Oshoffa, the Elders, the Parochial Committee and the entire congregation of the Celestial Church of Christ, International Headquarters Cathedral, Ketu, Lagos.
