DATELINE: MONDAY, 1st JULY, 2024: The Appeal Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the appeal filed by Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, against the judgment of the Ogun State High Court, Ilaro, did not mince words in advising parties in the matter before the Appeal Court, to seek out of court resolution of all extraneous issues related to the matter.
The Presiding Judge made it clear, in very strong terms, that the court would only adjudicate on the legalities of the matter before it and not on extraneous issues like the dissolution of the Board of Trustees and the brick bats occasioned by the sudden application for a change of counsel by some members of the dissolved Board of Trustees.
The beginning of the day’s proceedings saw two members of the dissolved Board of Trustees, Most Superior Evangelist S.O. Banjo and Superior Evangelist Bola Akinterinwa, announcing their presence in court.
Counsel to Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, Obafemi Adewale (SAN), immediately reacted to this by making it known to the court that they could no longer claim to be members of the Board of Trustees since the B.O.T. to which they belonged had been dissolved since May 2021.
Obafemi Adewale (SAN), also made it clear to the Appeal Court that messrs S.O. Banjo and Bola Akinterinwa, were presently challenging their removal from the Board of Trustees at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, and so could not parade themselves as Board of Trustee members, whilst their case is still pending.
The Appeal Court also advised that parties in the matter must resolve all issues relating to counsel representation outside the court.
The matter was adjourned to Thursday, 10th October, 2024.

Well while we cannot rule out conflict amongst humans in all matters including the church and all aspects of life. In reality, the court seems to be the best place to seek redress. However, now that the court has given an outside the court settlement/resolution as it wisely deem fit, I hope the church would swing into action to set machinery of expert negotiators from within and outside the fold to effect settlement.
I’m optimistic that the result would be impressively positive.
To some of us who follow the antecedent with kin interest, our wish is that all matters be resolved outside the court and timely.
Long live the Celestial Churchof Christ
