Like Martin Luther King, the revered Reverend, Pastor, Founder of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, Pa Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa, also had a dream. That dream was to see the Celestial City, Imeko, Ogun State, developed into a tourist hub and a pilgrimage destination, not just for members of the Celestial Church of Christ but indeed for all and sundry the world over.
Papa Oshoffa nurtured that dream and quietly worked towards its realisation in his lifetime. His vision was to build a Holy City, our own Jerusalem, the pride of all Celestial Faithfuls. A city that would have all the modern facilities from a Basilica, twice the size of what we have now, to a world class university, hospitals, residential estates, network of tarred roads, drainages, twenty four hour electricity and all the modern facilities that anyone can imagine. It was indeed a huge dream. Huge but realisable. And Pa S.B.J. Oshoffa worked quietly towards the realisation of this dream.
But then, man, they say, proposes while God disposes. Today, the remains of Pa S.B.J. Oshoffa is interred at the Celestial City, Imeko, Ogun State having ascended to higher glory in the year 1985. The dream to develop Imeko into our own Jerusalem was not realised in the lifetime of one of God’s greatest Generals, Pa S.B.J. Oshoffa. That dream, it appeared, was interred with the remains of the great Saint as thirty eight years after his passage, Imeko City remains a rustic town devoid of all the modern facilities that Pa S.B.J. Oshoffa desired when he was here with us.
Annually, in December to be exact, millions of Celestial Church of Christ members troop to Imeko on a pilgrimage that has come to be known as the Imeko Annual Convocation. An annual gathering borne out of a spiritual injunction given by the late Reverend, Pastor, Founder S.B.J. Oshoffa. Pilgrims to our annual convocation suffer untold hardship from sleeping in cars because of scarce accomodation to inhaling thick dust as a result of the untarred roads, not to talk of the danger they are exposed to as a result of a lack of up to date medical facilities.
It is time to put a stop to all the suffering and inconveniences! It is time to go back to the drawing board!! It is time to reawaken the lofty dream of our founding father, Reverend, Pastor, Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa. This is the time to rekindle the Imeko City Development Project.
Powered by the Pastor in Council Works and Projects Committee, the Imeko City Development Project was unveiled at the Celestial Church of Christ, International Headquarters, Ketu, Lagos, on Thursday, 25th May, 2023, to an impressive gathering of Shepherds, Church Workers and Senior Clergy from far and near. The occasion was presided over by His Eminence, Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide.
In his address at the unveiling of the project, His Eminence, Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide made a call for massive support for the project. He emphasized that the development of the Celestial City, Imeko, is a task that must be done and could only be achieved if all hands are on deck for its realisation. He called on all Shepherds to take the message to their flock and enlist their support for the project.
Members of the Pastor in Council Works and Projects Committee took turns to speak on the Project Features and the Financial Outlay. They enumerated the benefits of the huge development projects to the Church, its members and to the economy of Ogun State in particular and Nigeria in general. They also called for support from the Clergy and members of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, making it clear that such support can also come in the form of donation of materials like bags of cement, iron rods, gravel, sharp sand, et al.
